Welcoming DNN DockMenu to our Productivity Suite!

Recently Inspector IT released a new DotNetNuke module utility that enables webmasters easily deploy a Mac-like "fish-eye" style menu toolbar, DNN DockMenu.
This new member of our productivity suite of modules for DotNetNuke was very well received and adopted, so well that requests for new features came pouring in.
While we were not able to satisfy every request in the short time it took to release a patch we are working hard to meet everyone’s expectations.

This release version 1.1 hosts the following enhancements and fixes:

  • Safari browser support, for both the Mac and PC platforms
  • Provides more granular control over the positioning of the menu. It can now be positioned anywhere relative to the container or page with pixel accuracy
  • Provides the ability to turn on or off the toolbar background (basically rendering it as transparent)
  • Ability to show the menu’s title once moused over
  • Includes minor usability improvements related to the overall management of the module
  • More…
The module is available on the DotNetNuke Marketplace as well as Snowcovered.

DNN VirtualEarh 1.5 is Finlly Here!

We have been at it for a couple of months, but it was well worth the wait. We have added a few nice features that we are sure you will love and will make you wander how you were able to live without it for this long.

Additionally, we improved the manageability of the module by separating the Map Points Management interface from the Map's Settings. The UI is much less cluttered as a result of this change.

I could go on writing pages explaining all the changes, so instead, here is a bullet list of the changes and fixes in this new version: (Make sure you check out the demo too!)

  • Added GeoRSS support
  • Added a point attribute to allow you to load the location's weather conditions in the balloon tip by default
  • Added settings to allow you to manipulate the balloon tip including, background color, size, border, border color & style
  • List of points is now a floating window, which you can move, close, minimize and restore
  • Fixed some minor FireFox rendering issues
  • Fixed issue when an apostrophy is entered in both the title and description of each point
  • Much more!

Google Turns off Map API v1

Google has officially turned off the Map API v1 in the first week of November.
This controversial move has caused a lot of disruptions to services built around that version and you will notice by reading blogs and community news groups that a lot of people are left unhappy.
Inspector IT, GoogleMap Module for DotNetNukeMoreover, it seems that Google also miscalculated the risks involved so much that by turning version 1 off their GeoCoding service also seized to function properly, according to news sources.

Inspector IT's popular GoogleMap module for DotNetNuke was also based on the Map API v1 and is currently not functional.
We are working hard on an upgrade to Map API v2 which will be distributed to all our customers as soon as a public release is available.

Meanwhile, if you have purchased the GoogleMaps module, Inspector IT is offering a FREE version of the other popular mapping module, Virtual Earth*.
